Q: Doesn’t Terry risk “spoiling” the election – that is, taking votes away from another progressive candidate who people feel has a better chance of winning? A: Absolutely not. Because we are using Ranked Choice Voting to elect the next mayor, everyone can vote for their first, second and third choice. Terry’s supporters can make other progressive candidates their second or third choice. So if Terry is eliminated from the race, her supporters’ votes will go to their second choice. If that second choice is eliminated, then they go to the third choice. In fact, a progressive has a BETTER chance of winning, if there are more progressive candidates in the race.
